Nespresso and Swarovski Put Crystals on a CitiZ for the Holidays

Nespresso’s holiday lineup this year is a collaboration with Swarovski, and the headline item is a CitiZ Platinum machine trimmed with crystals, according to a Nespresso press release issued September 29. The rest of the collection is limited-edition coffee plus a pile of sparkly gifts.

On the coffee side, Nespresso lists a Festive Crystal Spark Espresso for Original machines and a Festive Crystal Spark Double Espresso for Vertuo, along with two flavored coffees: Hazelnut Brownie and Blueberry Cheesecake. The release describes the blends as warm, with notes of toasted cereal, cocoa, caramel and spice. The gift side includes Original and Vertuo advent calendars, two crystal ornaments shaped like capsules, colored Pixie cups, a green stainless travel mug with crystal detailing, and chocolates.

What the announcement doesn’t include is prices or a US date. Nespresso says the collection rolls out market by market through September and October, online, in its boutiques and at some Swarovski stores, and only while it lasts.

Our take: the crystal CitiZ is a gift-shop piece, and it’s an Original machine, so it takes the small espresso capsules, not Vertuo pods. If you already own a Nespresso, the advent calendars and seasonal coffees are the practical part, and they tend to sell out before December.
