WIRED’s Early Espresso Deals: $200 Off a Breville, Plus a Nespresso Bundle
WIRED has rounded up early Black Friday espresso machine deals, pitching them as a way to get a few weeks of practice in before you’re making cappuccinos for Thanksgiving guests. Every machine on the list is one a WIRED reviewer has tested, per the outlet.
The headliner is the Breville Barista Express at $500 on Amazon, down from $700. WIRED says it was the site’s top pick for years and is still a bestseller thanks to its durability, though the sale only covers the black and stainless finishes. The list also has the Casabrews 5700 Pro at $400 (from $450) and the Diletta Mio at $1,209 (from $1,409), both on Amazon, plus the dual-boiler Meraki at $1,799 (from $1,999).
The one pod machine on the list is a Nespresso Vertuo bundle that comes with the Aeroccino 3 milk frother. WIRED calls it its favorite pod machine for espresso, while noting that Vertuo shots aren’t true espresso. The bundle’s sale price didn’t show up when we read the page, so check it before you buy.
We couldn’t check any of these prices ourselves, so treat them as WIRED’s figures from Nov. 2.
Our take: if practicing on a steam wand in front of the in-laws sounds like work, the Nespresso bundle is the no-learning-curve route, and the frother is what turns it into a cappuccino machine. Our Vertuo buying guide lays out the models, and if you’d consider an Original machine for cheaper capsules, start with our Nespresso-compatible pods guide.
