Tasting Table’s 10 Nespresso Complaints, From Leaks to Pricier Pods

Tasting Table has rounded up the ten complaints Nespresso owners make most often, gathered from Reddit, Trustpilot and Facebook rather than its own testing, and the Vertuo Next comes out looking worst.

The biggest gripe is reliability. Per the roundup, Reddit users call the Next notorious for breaking, and Tasting Table already ranked it last among Nespresso machines for that reason, though it says owners also report problems with the Vertuo Pop, Pop+ and Zenius. Leaks are next, with reports on several models, including the Creatista Pro and the Vertuo Plus. After that come customer service that’s slow to fix things, and pod prices: at the time of writing, the outlet found a single Vertuo Intenso capsule at $1.40 and a Starbucks Sumatra pod at over $1.60.

The rest of the list: a Facebook post Tasting Table cites showing a Maple Pecan box that went from 125 grams to 108 grams, Vertuo machines that don’t drop used pods into the bin, coffee that tastes watery or the same from one capsule to the next, rattling noise, bitterness, and smart models that keep losing their Wi-Fi connection.

Our take: a few of these are fixable at home. Watery or bitter coffee and leaks are often scale buildup, so try a proper descale before calling Nespresso, and if the head won’t close or the pod won’t seat, our Vertuo won’t lock guide covers the usual causes. Pod prices are harder to fix on Vertuo, which is still almost entirely Nespresso-made capsules.
