Dolly Parton’s Cup of Ambition Coffee Now Comes as K-Cups Online

Dolly Parton’s coffee brand, Cup of Ambition, now sells K-Cup pods online, Comunicaffe International reports. The pods come in the same three roasts as the bagged coffee: Light, Medium and Dark.

The brand is a tie-up with Community Coffee, the Baton Rouge roaster that’s been around since 1919. According to Comunicaffe, the coffee first went on sale at Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stop in June, then launched online nationwide on National Coffee Day, September 29. You can order the pods from CupOfAmbition.com or CommunityCoffee.com, the report says.

When we checked the Cup of Ambition shop on October 16, each box of K-Cups was $11.57, and the Light and Medium listings were 10-count boxes. The shop also advertised a discount for subscribing. The 12-ounce bags of ground coffee are the same $11.57.

Our take: $11.57 for 10 pods works out to about $1.16 a cup, which is on the pricey side for a K-Cup, especially next to the big multi-packs most of us buy. That’s fine for a gift or a fan’s shelf, less so as your daily pot. If you like the roast, the ground coffee goes further in a reusable K-Cup, and our cost-per-cup breakdown shows how much that saves.
